About me

Ciao! Welcome to Florence and Tuscany!

My name is Monica and I’ve been a licensed local guide in Florence and Siena (and surroundings) since 2004.

I was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. After my Bachelor Degree in History at the University of Stockholm I started traveling around Europe for a couple of years until I felt at home coming to Florence in 1993. In Italy I continued my studies to become an interpreter and a translator, but I quickly realized it was not my cup of tea. When at this point I got the chance to become a tour guide I knew it was the right job for me and here I am!

Being a licensed tour guide is more than just a job. It’s a lifestyle! It’s really a privilege having the streets and museums of Florence and Siena as my workplaces and I love to spend my free time discovering exciting spots in town. There is always something new to learn and see for a curious person like me. I consider myself dynamic, positive, outgoing and stress resistant.

What I like the most about my job is that I daily have a chance to interact with a lot of interesting people and I get to share my knowledge and passion for what I’m doing as well as I get to learn something new from the ones I meet. No two days are alike.

I guess there were my hobbies that brought me to Florence and Italy. I love culture, art, history, food, wine and sports. I also enjoy traveling and whenever there is an opportunity I go visiting new places in Italy and abroad. In the last few years I have become a real wine lover. I just became a sommelier and I have in mind to continue this fantastic experience and learn more about wine.
